FALL ART CRAWL IS HERE!!

by Rhea Pappas

The St. Paul Art Crawl is one of the largest art events that happens! Artists and galleries all over the area will be opening their studios to invite in visitors to see their work and possibly purchase work on a good day. The Northern Warehouse and the Tilsner Warehouses are a great place to start your Art Crawl! Not only is the Northern Warehouse home to the well known AZ Gallery, it also serves as an artist co-op. The building offers living/ studio/ gallery space for artists to work and live in an art based community, also known as Lowertown. The Northern Warehouse houses many talented and established artists whose work is well known in the twin cities area, and in some cases internationally. Some of these artist include photographer Rhea Pappas, Katherine Johnson, Adam Arnold and many more! Come check it out all this weekend! Rhea Pappas will be showing her amazing bodies of work both in her studio on the 4th floor as well as in Goldens Deli! Also at Goldens Deli the band Lingua Luna will be playing! This strong trio of women will blow your socks of with their siren themed new album!

SCIENCE STILL TAKING BACK SEAT TO POLITICS.

If the spill from BPs' Deepwater Horizon drill wasn't disgusting enough, the truth about how many gallons really were spilled (especially during the first months) into the ocean are starting to surface. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) attempted to make their worse-case figures public during the first months of the spill, but that decision was pushed back by the White House Office of Management and Budget. It is petrifying that the government has control of the information and facts that are necessary for the people to be informed on current issues. Pushing back warning information about our environment from the scientist who work to find the solutions to our messes, is catastrophic to our ability to be informed and act appropriately. Science should never be taking the backseat to politics. Get the whole story here...

Hooked on Photography Exhibition.

Self Reflections by Madeline Crew

ICEBOX Gallerys' juried exhibition, " Hooked on Photography" opened October 1st. The gallery was packed with the artist and their families and friends who came out to the opening. Having been an open call exhibition, each piece of work has its own theme and subject matter that demonstrates the artists' style. The turn out was exciting, especially because this was the first show I have entered my work into, and also the first time I have been accepted.  Seeing my work on the wall was so surreal as a young artist showing with established artists. The exhibition show cases 26 other photographers, to name a few Bob Wolfe, Will Agar, Jon Morris and Noel McCleaf. The show runs through October 23rd.
 Check it out!
